Support

Something not working, or a question about Knipper? Write to me.

One person answers this, so it may take a day or two. Including your Knipper version helps: open Knipper, choose Settings, go to About, and click the version number to copy it.

Common things

Knipper says it needs Screen Recording permission

macOS will not let any app capture the screen without it, so this one is not optional. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Screen & System Audio Recording, and switch Knipper on. You may need to quit and reopen Knipper afterwards.

I granted permission but Knipper still says it is missing

macOS ties permissions to a specific copy of an app. If you have more than one copy on disk, or you moved Knipper after granting, the grant no longer matches. Keep one copy in your Applications folder, remove Knipper from the Privacy list, then grant it again.

The capture shortcut does nothing

Another app may have claimed the same combination. Open Settings, go to Shortcuts, and set a different one. macOS gives whichever app registered first the key, and it does not tell you which app that was.

Where do my screenshots go?

Downloads by default. You can change that in Settings under Screenshots, including choosing any folder you like. Everything you have captured is also listed under History, searchable by the words inside the image.

Scrolling capture stopped early

It watches for the page to stop changing. A page that loads more content as you scroll can pause long enough to look finished. Scroll a little further and press Space to force another frame, then Escape when you are done.

Translate is not working

Knipper has no translation service of its own; it uses one you choose and a key you supply. Open Settings, go to Translate, and use Test Connection. That sends one short phrase and reports exactly what came back, which usually names the problem.

Refunds

If Knipper is not what you expected, email me and I will refund you. You do not have to justify it.

Reporting a bug

Useful things to include, in rough order of how much they help:

Do not send anything confidential. If a screenshot shows something sensitive, Knipper can black it out first: open it, then use Smart Redact.
